A few years ago, some friends and I were in a camping in the small rural town of Antioquia. We were 16 years old and we wanted to live many adventures, but we didn´t know that those days on the mountain were chilly.
It was a long trip. We met at 5:00 am, in the bus stop of the town; there an old car came for us. At noon we arrived in a village. This place was very strange. Then we walked around 5 hours in the jungle. We had to cross mountains, waterfalls, swamps and we saw many wild animals like monkeys, foxes, snipes, and beautiful but dangerous flowers. It was the kind of adventure that we wanted. Then we arrived to a valley and we found a good place to make the tents. Around 11:00 pm we went to sleep. I remember that something woke me up. It sounded like chains. Then it sounded like horse´s steps. I thought that somebody was outside. I looked over the tent and shone with my flashlight. I was very scared, but I didn´t say anything.
During the day it was amazing. We did hiking, swam in the river, did fishing and enjoyed the time together, but the nights were terrible. All my friends had heard something strange at night, but nobody had said anything. We were a little scared, but we liked something like that to happen to us. Some nights we heard people talking or praying, other times we saw lights, like fire balls on the river. We thought that in the valley there was a treasure.
We wanted the treasure all nights. One night my two friends went to the side of the river to wait for some ghost and found a mine. We were slept and woke us up a louder scream. The boys came running at the tents and quickly we made our bags. We were in the middle at the night, on middle of the jungle. We felt something behind of us. We were so scared. Then we found the road and we took a bus in the morning. It was a really unforgettable vacation.
I always think what have happened us if we had stayed there for a few days more. Now I don´t see a lot my old friends and I have not had time to do the things that I like, such as hiking and camping. I miss it.
